The Effectiveness of Rich Literature in teaching EAL/D students.

Teaching students to speak an Additional Language is a specialist field.

Many teachers find they have EAL/D students in their classes. There is often limited specialist support for teachers in this area as most Australian States and Territories have downgraded the previous ESL Programs and schools are not prioritising this teaching field for allocation of funds.

One rich resource that all students should have access to, in their education, is that of good Literature.

This short presentation in the 2022 Symposia on the Foundation for Learning and Literacy site  entitled 'Engaging Multilingual students through the Power of Rich Literature in the maintenance of first language/s and the acquisition of English as an Additional Language', explains the powerful role of rich literature , in teaching students learning English as their Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D).

Use the presentation for a School-based workshop to discuss the ideas and how to include Rich Literature into your teaching Program.
